Japan in Brazilian agricultural exports

The study searches for measuring the Japan´s concentration in Brazilian agricultural exports. It elaborates a 1989-2015 series of Brazilian agricultural exports targeted to the Japanese markets. Locational Quotient (LQ), Locational Gini Coefficient (LGC) and the Hirschman-Herfindahl modified Index are the basic methodological approach. Moreover, it analyses a time trend for the LGC data. The results identified a subtle concentration of Brazilian agricultural exports around Japanese markets. They also highlight products in which a typical net Japanese demand goes on. At last, the article offers new questions, related to the highlighted products and to the potential Japanese trade agreements.
