Antibiosis of wheat genotypes to C biotypes of Schizaphis graminum (Rondani, 1852) (Homoptera: Aphididae)

The objective of this work was to quantify the antibiosis mechanism of different wheat genotypes to C biotype of the greenbug, Schizaphis graminum (Rondani, 1852) (Homoptera: Aphididae). This test was developed at EMBRAPA/CNPT, Passo Fundo, RS, Brazil, and 14 wheat lines and 4 cultivars were maintained in a growth chamber having one bug per plant and ten replications. Parameters assessed were: duration of nymph stages, prereproduction period, reproduction period, longevity of adults, total cycle, number of nymphs/female, and average weight of adult bugs. The results obtained indicate that all lines and Trigo BR 36 cultivar were unfavorable to the development and reproduction of greenbugs.
