New harvest technique furnish greater lettuce seed yield
The conventional methods of lettuce seed harvesting are described, and an alternative method is presented, which consists in cutting the inflorescence associated with irrigation and nitrogen fertilization. This method reduces shattering and allows a better use of plant reserves for a second harvest.

Descrevem-se os métodos atualmente utilizados na colheita de sementes de alface e apresenta-se um método alternativo de colheita, que consiste no corte manual das inflorescência, associado à irrigação e adubação nitrogenada de cobertura. Este método, além de reduzir as perdas de sementes, permite a utilização das reservas da planta para uma segunda colheita.
