FARM PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT: BASIC PRINCIPLES FOR THE APPRAISAL OF AGROSSILVOPASTORAL SYSTEMS ON THE CERRADOS
This paper discusses farm management aspects, aiming to facilitate the comprehension and evaluation of farming systems in the Brazilian Cerrados region. Initially, a farm planning and management concept from a business view point is presented emphasizing the interrelations with the environment. Following, the manager attributions, the essential data for management, the procedures to collect data as well as a concept of the decision making process in a business is presented. Finally, the farm planning and management perspectives in a society committed to the future generations is discussed evoking the sustainability of the farming systems and an approach adopted by the EMBRAPA Cerrados is briefly presented.
