FAMILY FARM BASED ON TROPICAL FRUIT PRODUTION AND GLOBALIZATION CAN IT BE A SUSTAINABLE RELATIONSHIP?

Economic difficulties and lack of technological actualization have affected the viability of an innovative project for small farmers, particularly in the Northeast of Brazil. To solve this constraint, farmers have organized themselves, to seek out for partnership with governmental and non-governmental institutions. The objective of this work is to analyze this new experience of the farmers. To know deeply the small farmers' reality, an auto-diagnostic of them was carried out in the communities, before the technical intervention. The diagnostic was carried out by meetings and alternative techniques such as construction of maps and lists of activities, which were helpful to recovery the history of the communities and to understand the current social processes. Although the technical intervention was not completed yet, preliminary results show that only technical parameters are not indicators of development as well as are not enough to promote a social and economic inclusion of the excluded people. During this investigation, the people emancipation is considered in the global context as a network of social relationship. In a globalized action, health concerns are related to the consumption of free of pesticides obtained without disturbing the environment. In this way, the farmers that contribute to a globalized approach do not receive an equivalent return and survive under precarious condition, mainly, in relation to their health.
