Avifauna of the province of La Rioja (Argentina): annotated list of species
We present a list of all bird species recorded in the province of La Rioja with known locality. Data were obtained from the literature and the analysis of museum specimens. We repor t a total of 48 families and 266 species, four of which did not have a precise record for the province. In addition, we report new localities for another 60 species. Specimens from collections came from Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales, the Félix de Azara Collection, both from Buenos Aires, the Museo de La Plata, and the Fundación Miguel Lillo, Tucumán.

En el presente trabajo se aporta una lista de todas las especies de aves registradas en la provincia de La Rioja con localidad definida. Los datos fueron obtenidos de la literatura y del análisis de especimenes de museos. Esto nos permitió incluir un total de 48 familias y 266 especies, de las cuales cuatro no presentaban registros concretos para la provincia, aportándose nuevas localidades para otras 60. Los ejemplares de colección pertenecen al Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales y a la colección Félix de Azara, ambos de Buenos Aires, al Museo de La Plata y a la Fundación Miguel Lillo deTucumán.
