RESUMENLos manglares en el oriente de Venezuela ocupan aproximadamente 138 000 ha. En elestado Sucre se extienden desde el Parque Nacional Mochima hasta la zona limítrofe con elestado Monagas. Con el objetivo de conocer la composición florística de los manglares delestado Sucre, se revisó el material del Herbario IRBR. Se determinaron 28 especies, seis delas cuales son mangles, tres de mangle rojo (Rhizophora harrisonii, R. mangle y R. racemosa),mangle negro (Avicennia germinans), mangle blanco (Laguncularia racemosa) y manglebotoncillo (Conocarpus erectus), las 22 especies restantes corresponden a vegetaciónrelacionada, dos de éstas son pteridófitos características de ambientes pantanosos litorales.Se incluye una clave, descripción de las especies y algunas ilustraciones representativas.ABSTRACTMangroves in western Venezuela covered 138 000 ha. In Sucre State, they are foundfrom Mochima National Park to the border line of Monagas State. In order to know the floristiccomposition of Sucre State mangroves, the collection of IRBR was revised. Twenty eightspecies were determined, six of them were mangroves, three of red mangrove (Rhizophoraharrisonii, R. mangle and R. racemosa), black mangrove (Avicennia germinans), whitemangrove (Laguncularia racemosa) and button mangrove (Conocarpus erectus), the other 22species corresponded to related plants, two of which were pteridophytes, characteristically ofcoastal wetlands. An identification key, a species description and representative illustrationsare included.
