Factors associated with low vigor and loss of germination of two soybean varieties in post harvest
In the National Center of Agricultural Research (ICA) of Palmira and Facultad de Ciencias Agropecuarias of Palmira a experirnent with the objetive to see the loss of germination and low vigor in seed soybean was carried out during 1990. The free fatty acids, the peroxide index, the storage time and the thickness of the cuticle was examined. Two substrates were used to see the vigor and germination, sand and soil and two depths, 3 and 6 cm. Two CV was used SOYICAP.31 and SOYICAP.33. The research was initiated after 90 days of storage that is the time when the seed starts the lost of vigor and germination under normal conditions of the Cauca Valle y. The results indicated that 90 days after storage the seed presented the minimum germination value to be considered as certified seed (70%) and decreased with the storage time. The fatty acids and peroxide content increased with the time being greater for CV Soyica P. 33 after 5 months of harvest which suppose less vigor for Soyica P. 33. The vigor of this variety under germination across the time was lesser in comparison with in the CV SOYICAP-31 was greater against SOYICAP. 33 suggesting better control of respiration in P. 31 that in P. 33 which could be control the viability of seed in P.31 better than P.33.
