This document was prepared as a contribution to the development of the Action Plan for the West and Central African Region. Its aim objective is to provide the Governments of the Region with appropriate information on the type and qu9ntity of industrial pollution from major land-based sources entering the marine environment through direct coastal discharges or indirectly through rivers, as well as on the present status of industrial waste management (treatment and disposal) practices.
