Report of the Workshop on the Follow-Up to UNCED and Implementation of the Forest Principles

The overall objective of the Workshop was to review and assess the progress of Asia and Pacific countries in implementing the forestry-related agreements reached at UNCED, particularly Chapter 11 of Agenda 21 (Combating Deforestation'), and the Non-legally binding authoritative statement of principles for a global consensus on the management, consen'ation and sustainable development of all types offorests (generally referred to as the "Forest Principles'). The Workshop was designed to provide Asia-Pacific countries an opportunity to highlight achievements, issues, constraints, and recommendations of particular relevance for countries of the region.
