Organic fertilization of Haden mango in Lombardía, Michoacán

ABSTRACT Adequate mineral nutrition in mango cultivation is crucial for achieving a good yield. Different types of biofertilizers were evaluated for the agricultural production of Haden mango in the municipality of Lombardía Michoacán, Mexico. A completely randomized experimental design was employed, with an equal number of experimental units per treatment, consisting of ten trees and six treatments evaluated based on homemade biofertilizers and nine study variables. In the statistical analysis, a normality and homoscedasticity test of variance data, analysis of variance, and mean comparison test (Tukey, p ≤ 0.05) were conducted. For the biofertilizer based on 20 % mineralized vermicompost, at a dose of 50 kg per tree and foliar application of 2 % liquid worm humus + 99 % glutamic acid 0.5 g L-1, a number of inflorescences of 12.30 m-2 with a yield of 2.15 t ha-1 were found, while the control had a number of inflorescences of 3.80 m-2 with a yield of 0.15 t ha-1. The selection criterion for using any biofertilizer is based on the availability of raw materials for its preparation and the time required for fermentation.
