Studies on the flora of the guianas Nº 101: New Vochysiaceae: Qualea Johannabakkeri and Qualea Marionii

Two new species of Qualea are described and compared: Q. johannabakkeri from Brazil and Q. marionii from Guyana. Q. johannabakkeri is related to Q. hannekesaskiarum from which it can be distinguished by having shorter pedicels, spur sepal subdensely to densely appressed-pubescent outside, shorter minor sepals (2 lateral ones and 2 anterior ones) and shorter anther. Q. marionii is related to Q. ingens but differs in having fewer main secondary veins, shorter inflorescence, a straight spur with an obtuse to rounded apex and a white petal. A key to the Qualea of the Guianas is provided.
