SELECTION OF FOREST AREAS WITH POTENTIAL FOR RECREATIVE PURPOSES

A survey was applied to 469 visitors of 14 natural parks of the State of México. The most important variable groups for forest recreation were defined, using the Principal Components technique. This information plus the natural and artificial characteristics of the State of México forest lands, were used to define 27 forest areas with potential for recreative use in the State. In addition, management strategies for their conservation are suggested.

Se realizó una encuesta a 469 visitantes de 14 parques naturales del Estado de México, con la finalidad de identificar, mediante la técnica de Componentes Principales, los grupos de variables más importantes en la recreación forestal. Con la información anterior, y considerando las características naturales y artificiales de los terrenos de uso forestal en el Estado de México, se determinaron 27 áreas que presentan potencial para uso recreativo en la entidad. Asimismo, se sugieren estrategias de manejo para su conservación.
