Los océanos Indico y Pacífico : algunas consideraciones estratégicas
Strategy in a vast oceanic area does not imply the control of the sea itself, but of specific points of importance in it or around it, the access to these points and the routes between them for commercial purposes, acquisition of supplies, movement of military forces, or maintenance of communications. Strategic importance is a function of striving for influence or control. Many countries need the sea to transport food, oil, raw materials for Industry, etc. To carry out this analysis of their strategic aspects, we chose two oceans: the Indian and the Pacific.

La estrategia en un vasto ámbito oceánico no implica el control del mar propiamente tal, sino de puntos específicos de importancia en él o alrededor de él, del acceso a estos puntos y las rutas entre ellos con propósitos comerciales, de adquisición de suministros, desplazamiento de fuerzas militares, o de mantención de comunicaciones. La importancia estratégica es una función de pugna por la influencia o el control. Muchos países necesitan del mar para el transporte de alimentos, petróleo, materias primas para la Industria, etc. Para realizar este análisis, se eligen dos océanos: el Índico y el Pacífico, y se discute sobre sus aspectos estratégicos.
