La consolidación de la democracia y del desarrollo en Chile : desafíos y tareas
This article is based on Osvaldo Sunkel's Incorporation Speech as a Full Member of the Academy of Social Sciences of the Institute of Chile. The author has dedicated himself to the study of Latin American underdevelopment using the structuralist approach of the Latin American school, and in this work he reflects on some issues that are relevant in the process of transition to democracy in Chile. In his opinion, after the initial stage and despite the successful vision of this process, current concerns have to do with deeper levels related to socioeconomic content, citizen coexistence and political institutionality. He examines four aspects that constitute a challenge and whose clarification will contribute to advance in the consolidation of democracy and development: the social, the political, the economic and the role of the State.
