Breeding for Bud Rot Resistance
The Bud Rot complex is a disease widely speed in America. For long only interspecific Hybrids were thought to be resistant to that disease. Pure E. guineensis have confirmed to be partially resistant. Despite Bud Rot has quite different symptoms from one location to another, the genetic resistances to that disease observed in one location are valid in another. Different strategy which are complementary have been developed as well for interspecific hybrids and E. guineensis.
