Digestive use of B honey diets and high fiber levels in Creole and CC21 pigs

Two genotypes (Criollo, Cr and CC @! Cuban) were compared when receiving diets with two levels of crude fiber (FC, 3.78 and 11.30%), using 18 pigs of 33.3 kg of live weight, fed mainly with honey B and flour of soy. To adjust the dietary HR, sweet potato vine flour (Ipomea batatas) was incorporated. There was no significant genotype effect on energy digestibility, FC and N, although CC21 showed higher values (Cr, 87.6, 71.5 and 76.0%; CC21, 89.1, 75.8 and 79.1%, respectively). The high level of FC decreased (P <.001) the same average digestive indices. The daily fecal excretion of short chain fatty acids per unit of consumption was unchanged (20.97 m mol / kg DM ingested on average), but that of ammonia showed variation (62.45 and 45.60 m mol / kg DM in Cr and CC21 animals, respectively). An advantageous ability in the digestion of high fiber diets was not verified in Cuban Cr.

An advantageous ability in the digestion of high fiber diets was not verified in Cuban Cr.
