NM 17. Effects of feeding dry faeces on productive performance of fattening pigs

Twenty-four halfbred Yorkshire-Landrace (50 ± 0.5 kg) pigs were used to evaluate the effect of the partial substitution of basal diet by dry swine feaces (swine waste) on productive performance. Least-square analysis of variance-covariance included treatment effects; A= 90 % of basal diet plus 10 % of dry swine feaces, B= 80 % of basal diet plus 20 % of dry swine faeces and T= control (100 % of basal diet). The animals of B group showed the worst (P<.05) average daily gain (T= 708, A= 608 and B= 583 g/d). The feed:gain ratio was of 4.36, 4.56 and 5.92 for T, A and B group. When the pigs are feed with more of 10 % of dry feaces the effects are harmful, however, others studies needs to be done in relation to the digestibility and processing of dry feaces of pigs.
