SPICES: A curriculum guide for early childhood care and education
This guide seeks to assist the teacher to foster the social, physical, intellectual, creative, emotional, and spiritual development of children. It suggest skills to be developed, and concepts to be introduced and reinforced, primarily for three-and four-year-olds. It stresses the need for creativity, and is oriented towards the Caribbean in order to develop an intellectual awareness and appreciation of the region’s cultural heritage. The approach is interdisciplinary to ensure that the children are exposed to a variety of concrete experiences with which they can relate and identify.
