The United States Secretary of State Colin Powell is meeting with Caribbean Foreign Ministers in the Bahamas where the main issues are the fight against drug trafficking and money laundering but Caribbean Ministers are keen to discuss deportees sent back to their country of origin after serving time in American jails (00:28-02:50) 3. For the Bahamas the main issue is illegal immigration from Haiti. The Bahamas government is struggling to cope with the tide and are even more concerned with the effects of this illegal immigration on their economy, especially since the economic slowdown following the September 11 attacks (02:51-04:16) 4. Julie Georges of The Bahamian/Haitian Cultural Association in Nassau is hoping Mr. Colin Powell’s visit will help all concerned to resolve the Haitian immigration problem (04:17-06:14) 5. Jamaican born crime expert at The City University of New York, Dr. Basil Wilson, is suggesting that it is not enough for the Caribbean to express moral outrage at the U.S. Policy on deportees they should present the matter to Washington as a violation of human rights (06:15-08:11) 6. The Barbados Attorney General Maya Motling has sharply criticised Antigua and Barbuda over their expulsion of the Barbadian journalist Julius Gittens, saying that Mr. Gittens’ case is an important test of Antigua’s commitment to the free movement of skilled professionals in the fifteen-nation Caribbean Community (08:12-09:55) 7. Two West Indies players are to take no further part in the series against Pakistan but being played in the United Arab Emirates of Sharjah.
