Strategic Interactions in Competition Policy: Dutch Experiences: European Competition Law Review
In this article we will discuss the strategic interactions between the institutions (competition law), competition authorities and companies. We do this by using anecdotal evidence of the Dutch context to illustrate these strategic interactions. We describe three types of strategic interactions, i.e. the reaction of market parties to the introduction of the competition law in the Netherlands in 1998, expectations in behaviour of different actors in the competition context, changes in their expectations and the consequences thereof on enforcement and the strategic use of lawsuits and private enforcement
