Case study: Belgium. Modular developments in vocational education
Modular training, as currently provided in Belgium, has potential as a tool in recurrent education, particularly in the area of vocational education - A modular structure offers several possible alternatives for required training within the same discipline. Tables in this paper illustrate a sample three-year course in information science which includes component training courses for data processing students, for the retraining of graduate applied engineers, for the briefing of secondary school teachers who must use information science, and finally for inservice teacher education. Other courses are being planned at the requests of commerce, industry and administration. Advantages of these courses are flexible timetabling and studies geared to individual needs as well as the promotion of adjustment to occupational change.
