Sixth Commonwealth Education Conference Report

Conference report of the 6th Commonwealth Education Conference analysing educational development in relation to educational strategies for educational innovations - Educational organization must be based on goals and priorities established with the participation of the community and the teachers. An important college role emerges in development programmes. Social status should be related to achievement and not type of education. Educational administration must direct the system in such a way as to convert national goals and aspirations into a system that works and has integrity. In view of the important teacher role in curriculum development and its adaptation to changing needs, attention should be given to improvement of teacher status, cooperation with teacher associations and development of teacher education. Supervision is a key factor in carrying out educational policies and achieving national goals. Closely linked to supervision is evaluation as only a supervised system can be evaluated.
