Address by Amadou-Mahtar M'Bow, Director-General of UNESCO, at the opening of the exhibition: 40 painters: a world generation, and the presentation of the Trésor de la poésie universelle (Treasury of world poetry); UNESCO House, 3 November 1986

Speech recalling that among the events celebrating UNESCO's 40th anniversary, the above exhibition brings together the works of 40 painters belonging to the generation that is 40 years old, from 40 countries, and that the catalogue/album published on this occasion will inaugurate the new series of art albums of the UNESCO Collection of Representative Works, additionally, the Treasury of World Poetry, due to the combined efforts of the late Roger Caillois and the poet Jean-Clarence Lambert, a unique collection of poetry from all the ages and all the regions of the world, long out of print, is henceforward republished by Gallimard in the UNESCO Collection of Representative Works
