Report on the Programme for the United Nations Second Industrial Development Decade for Africa

In response to the recommendations contained in resolution 656 (XXIV) of the fifteenth meeting of the ECA Conference of Ministers, resolution 2 (DC) of the ninth meeting of the Conference of African Ministers of Industry, resolution 1989/115 of the Economic and Social Council, and resolution GC.3/Res. 10 of the third session of the General Conference of UNIDO, the United Nations General Assembly at its forty-fourth session adopted resolution 44/237 of 22 December 1989 proclaiming the period 1991-2000 as the second Industrial Development Decade for Africa. Resolution 44/237 also requested the United Nations Secretary-General, in collaboration with the Director-Genera! of UNIDO, to provide assistance to individual countries and intergovernmental organizations for the preparation of national and sub regional programmes respectively for the second Industrial Development Programme for Africa (IDDA II).
