Report on the First Meeting of African Intergovernmental Organizations (Addis Ababa, 2 - 6 September 1974)

Report on the first meeting of African Intergovernmental Organizations. The first meeting of African Intergovernmental Organizations was held at Addis Ababa from two to 6 September 1974. Through the intermediary of its office of Technical Co-operation, the secretariat of the organization of African Unity would bring the African intergovernmental organizations into close association with its technical co-operation programme, whose chief objective was to promote economic, technical, scientific and cultural co-operation at the regional or sub regional level. Co-operation between the organization and other African and non-African organizations, such as OICMA, ASECWA, FAO and UNDP, was very good. Before closing the meeting, the participants adopted two resolutions, which appear in Part II of the report. The first resolution deals with the establishment of a conference of African Intergovernmental Organizations, while the second concerns the campaign against locusts and other crop destroyers in Africa.
