Report on tourism trends in Africa

Tourism policy in Africa has experienced a big change over the last twenty years or so. In fact, a policy in the strict sense of the term hardly existed. Adoption of a fixed set of formal objectives at the official level coincided with the emergence of a stronger tourism consciousness, abetted by the establishment of national administrations responsible for monitoring tourism development. Tourism planning in Africa inevitably reflects the geographic concerns entailed by topography and climate. Even allowing for this diversity, which imposes strict limits on would be generalizations, there are certain features common to practically all countries.
