Report to the sixth conference of African ministers of social affairs on guidelines for designing participatory rural development in Africa

This Report attempts to make a contribution in concertizing the concept in the form of guidelines for designing participatory rural development projects. The Report suggests rapid rural reconnaissance, based on non-formal listening survey and dialogue, to be followed by participatory action research to gather relevant information and data regarding, inter alia the felt needs and their- priority of the rural people, their resource base, farming system and prevailing norms and way of life.
