Message from professor Adebayo Adedeju, undersecretary general of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa at the regional conference on intra-African tourism /:

One of the most significant pieces of evidence of our concern for tourism development in Africa was the Banjul Regional Conference on Tourism and Economic Development which we organized jointly with the World Tourism Organization. The present conference is the second demonstration of the desire to see Africans take charge of tourism development in a concerted manner but also to establish excellent working relations with all those taking part in the development of tourism and its operations.
