Draft opening remarkds : first joint session of ECA-AU statistical commission for Africa and committee of directors General of National Statistical offices

Address by Lead Panel Member in Charge of Zambia, Prof. Al-Amin Abu-Manga To The National Technical Sensitization Workshop On The APRM National Plan of Action (NPA) Harmonization Workshop Lusaka, Zambia. Prof. Abu-Manga, on his remarks highlighted that, the relevant government ministries responsible for funding and release of resources, members of the NGC and other critical stakeholders should now put in more commitment and deepen their involvement at this stage. The Mechanism has also opened up political space for citizen participation in writing Country Self-Assessment Reports and shared with them their views on APRM process. Apart from increased membership, the African Peer Review Mechanism has rolled-out the review exercise to local peoples, deepened the review process and increased levels of participation and engagement of stakeholders. The Zambia Country Review Report identified commendable practices such as Zambia’ support to Liberations and assisting liberation movements in Southern Africa.
