ECA undertakes to strengthen trade capacity and training within ECOWAS and EAC

The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) today in Addis Ababa signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS) and the East African Community (EAC) to collaborate in strengthening intra-Africa trade and promote development in the sub regions. The three parties agreed to strengthen capacity building and training on trade issues, assist in building consensus among the member states of the regional economic communities, promote trade facilitation and the development of trade corridors. EAC is the regional intergovernmental organization of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Republic of Rwanda and Burundi with its headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania.
