Land Policy Initiative convenes experts on capacity development

The Land Policy Initiative (LPI) held an Expert Group Meeting (EGM) on Capacity Development for Land Policy in Africa. The meeting, which took place on 27- 28 June 2012 at the headquarters of the African Union was aimed at facilitating the implementation of the AU Declaration on Land Issues and Challenges in Africa. It was organized in partnership with UN-Habitat and was attended by land policy experts from Government agencies, Regional Economic communities, CSOs and learning Centers from across the continent The meeting highlighted that Capacity Development is an important component of the successful implementation of the AU Declaration on Land issues and Challenges in Africa. The overarching objective of the meeting was to review the methodology for preparing a Capacity Development Framework for Land Policy in Africa. It was expected that the experts would provide inputs to the identification of issues, needs, stakeholders and partnership opportunities for Capacity Development for land policy in Africa; ii) the methodology for developing the framework is clarified and improved; iii) agreement is reached on the content (outline) of the Capacity Development Framework.
