Statement By Mr. Abdoulie Janneh Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of ECA At the Fifth Meeting of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development. he pointed out on his remark that, Our theme – Unleashing Africa’s Potential as a Pole of Global Growth – could not have been placed on your agenda at a more appropriate time. Over the years, I have seen increasing faith and abiding belief that Africa is on the rise both by Africans themselves and by our partners as reflected in various research reports and positive stories in the media. Going forward, Africa must continue to harness its resources, with which it is deeply endowed, for growth and development. We must take account of the African Mining Vision in extracting our natural resources using accompanying rents for development and by adding value through beneficiation. In his conclusion that over the years faith in Africa has increased considerably. There is the capacity, will and determination to make Africa a global player that can contribute its quota to global prosperity and associated processes.
