Statement by his excellency Dr Peter U.ONU secretary- general a.i of the organization of African Unity (OAU) to the eleventh meeting of ECA conference of ministers : Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 25-29 April 1985
The Heads of State and Government were concerned that in spite of those laudable initiatives and actions the deteriorating economic and social situation in the African continent showed no sign of abating and the African economic outlook continued to be bleak, in spite of their commitment in the Lagos Plan of Action to strive to achieve a better economic well-being for their peoples.
