Statement by the Deputy Executive Secretary
This statement presented by the deputy executive secretary at the seventh session of the commission. The representative on his statement points out the progress made in establishing the African Development bank a year a ago at the sixth session of the commission, he also noted that the report summarizes the final stages in the process of establishing the African Development Bank, which concluded at Lagos with the ninth session of the committee of Nine and the first meeting of the Board of Directors. The Executive secretary will hold in readiness all the services and facilities at his disposal not only to co-operate with this new institute but also to provide it with further assistance in case of need. the Commission will define the status of the Bank and will adopt a resolution, recognizing it as an inter-governmental agency qualified to be invited to send accredited observers to attend the commission’s sessions and the meetings of appropriate subsidiary organs.
