United Nations and the transport and communications decade in Africa
United Nations through the Economic Commission for Africa, and in collaboration with the Organization of African Unity has for many years promoted the economic integration of Africa. Permanent in these efforts is the recognition that transport and communication constitutes a most important sector on whose development depends not only the growth the other sector but also the socio-economic integration of Africa, as well as the promotion of intra-and extra-African trade.
