Compendium of intra-African and related foreign trade statistics

This is the fifth edition of the Compendium of Intra-African and Related Foreign Trade Statistics. It is a combined edition of two former publications: Foreign Trade Statistics for Africa. series A: Direction of trade; and Foreign Trade Statistics for Africa. series C: Summary tables. It is hoped that this publication will meet the needs of users both at the international, regional, subregional and national levels, in particular the planning data for the African economies. The unique feature of this publication is the inclusion for the fifth time of trade data by economic groupings in Africa and selected groupings of Africa. Sources of data The data contained in this publication comes from various sources: the main source of the data are the ECA member States whose data is extracted from their national publications and those sent on magnetic media to ECA. Other sources include online access to the Commodity Trade Database (COMTRADE) of the United Nations in New York. and publications of regional and international organizations. After accessing all sources, estimation procedures have, where possible have been used to fill any remaining data gaps.
