Government transactions in the context of the United Nations system of national accounts

This paper aims at setting the transactions of the public sector, in perspective against the background of- SNA. The present SNA treats these transactions in considerably greater detail than its predecessor, introduces new distinctions, and alters certain, definitions, treatments and classifications. In the light of the great and expanding role of the sector in the total economy of most countries, the need for fuller and more pertinent information can be seen to be a natural development.
