A review of studies and recommendations of the union of African railways, (UAR) traffic, commercial, and economic committee meetings, symposia and training activities
It has become necessary to review the Status of recommendations which the various technical Committees of the Union of African Railways (UAR) have made since their inception over a decade ago in order to assess their validity and progress made in their implementation. The review should, in turn, facilitate the assessment of what could be done about recommendations still to be implemented including steps to be taken for the mobilization of the necessary resources. This review of recommendations of the Transport, Commercial and Economic Committee has been carried out with assistance, received from the Economic Commission of Africa {ECA) following a request which the Secretary-General of UAR made to the Executive Secretary of ECA in January 1989.
