Professor Godfrey Matthew Hewitt (1940-2013)
Evolutionary biology has lost an important and influen-tial member of its community. For many, the loss is notjust one of academic achievement, but the loss of a truefriend and inspiring colleague. Professor Godfrey Hewittpassed away peacefully on Monday February 18 after asecond battle with cancer. Despite his great strength ofcharacter, this was not a battle that could be won.
