Introduction to Multivariate Curve Resolution
This article introduces the general concepts of multivariate curve resolution (MCR). The key concepts of the curve resolution problem and the general features of MCR reported in the literature are described. Basic approaches to find the underlying pure component responses are outlined, and these are based on using either a rotation matrix or iterative methods. The historical origins of MCR methods are discussed and a general discussion of the ambiguities inherent in the method is provided. The article closes with a description of several applications of MCR methods.
