García-Mayordomo, J. ... et. al.-- 7ª Asamblea Hispano Portuguesa de Geodesia y Geofísica, 25-28 de junio de 2012, Donostia - San Sebastián The first step in a seismic hazard calculation following the classic Cornell methodology is the definition of a number of zones where, because of their seismotectonic characteristics, it can be assumed a specific earthquake frequency distribution (Gutenberg-Richter relationship) as well as an upper bound (maximum magnitude). The definition of such zones is very often controversial due to the different interpretations that analysts made for the future occurrence of seismicity. This situation is usually managed by means of techniques for the treatment of uncertainty. Among them the expert judgment is highlighted: the collaboration of a number of experts specifically addressed for the determination of a consensus model. This poster shows the expert judgment process followed for defining a seismogenic source-zones model for the calculation of seismic hazard in Spain. The global process has consisted in two fundamental phases. The first phase took place during 2010 and a total of 14 Spanish geologists participated in it, as well as personnel from the Portuguese IST and the French IRSN in the frame of the European SHARE project. The second phase has taken place during 2011 and 2012, and a number of partial changes of the general model were made: modification of zones where either the spatial distribution of seismicity was very inhomogeneous or where the statistical sample of earthquakes was not significant; as well as modifications due to inclusion or not of faults as individual seismogenic sources. The final model incorporates the maximum magnitude for each zone based on geologic data, as well as their predominant rupture mechanism Peer Reviewed 2014-04-16T06:13:18Z 2014-04-16T06:13:18Z 2012-6-27 2014-04-16T06:13:19Z póster de congreso http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6670 7ª Asamblea Hispano Portuguesa de Geodesia y Geofísica (2012) http://hdl.handle.net/10261/95585 http://www.aranzadi-zientziak.org/fileadmin/webs/7AHPGG/timetables_en.php none
