El trabajo analiza el papel de la afluencia Atlántica en el transporte y acumulación de sedimentos contaminados por metales pesados desde el Golfo de Cádiz hasta el Mar de Alborán. La señal de alerta por parte de la comunidad científica llega en un momento de posible reapertura de la mina de Aznalcóllar (Sevilla), 26 años después del devastador vertido tóxico ocurrido en esta explotación [CAT] Un estudi de l’Institut de Ciències del Mardel CSIC revela un augment significatiu de metalls pesants en els sediments del nord-oest del mar d’Alborán coincidint amb l’augment de les concessions mineres a la regió, episodis de pluges torrencials i vessaments accidentals. El treball analitza el paper de l’afluència Atlàntica en el transport i acumulació de sediments contaminats per metalls pesants des del Golf de Cadis fins al Mar d’Alborán.
