To study the method’s impact, Sarah Paradis at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain, and her colleagues analysed sediments taken from a trawling ground in the northwestern Mediterranean Sea during trawling season, when intensive trawling was occurring, and during seasonal closures.
