Piferrer, Francesc Novoa, Beatriz Figueras Huerta, Antonio Bouza, Carmen Martínez, Paulino ... et al.-- 33 pages, 7 figures, 2 tables The turbot (Scophthalmus maximus) is a flatfish with an increasing aquaculture value. It shows one of the highest growth rates and sexual growth dimorphism among the cultured marine species. An important investment has been done on genomic research in this species for boosting breeding programs, currently in their fifth generation of selection. Recently, the whole genome has been assembled and used to integrate all previous transcriptomic and mapping resources. Genomic tools have been valuable to understand the genetic architecture of the main productive traits, growth, sex determination (SD), and resistance to pathologies. Quantitative trait loci, candidate genes and associated genetic markers for these traits have been identified and located in the turbot genome. Markers associated with the main SD region and growth-related traits have been validated in a panel of families and are available for obtaining all-female populations and enhancing growth rate through marker assisted selection Peer Reviewed 2017-06-07T08:31:45Z 2017-06-07T08:31:45Z 2016 2017-06-07T08:31:45Z capítulo de libro http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_3248 isbn: 978-0-12-801418-9 Genomics in Aquaculture 6: 131-163 (2016) http://hdl.handle.net/10261/150995 10.1016/B978-0-12-801418-9.00006-8 https://doi.org/10.1016/B978-0-12-801418-9.00006-8 Sí none Academic Press
