Tyrosol, ferulic and vanillic acids are phenolic present in diet (vegetables, fruits, virgin olive oil and derived from degrada- tion of lignin). They have been shown to have healthy activities due to their high variety of physiological functions such as antioxidant activity. The aim of this study was to know their bio- logicalactivitiesindegenerative-relatedprocessesattheindividual and molecular levels. For this purpose, in vivo toxi/antitoxicity, geno/antigenotoxicity and longevity assays were carried out in the Drosophila melanogaster model. Moreover, in vitro assays were performed in HL-60 human leukaemia cell line testing their cyto- toxicity and proapoptotic DNA internucleosomal fragmentation potency. The results showed that phenols were non-toxic for flies.
