Some consequences of the FAIR Act for the European oilseed industry.
The reduction in the USA of various policy distortions to oilseed production and exports due to reforms by the FAIR Act are expected to improve the competitiveness of the US oilseed industry. These improvements in competitiveness may have more positive effects for consumers than for producers. With EU imports accounting for 40% of the combined US and Brazilian soyabean crop, this will yield benefits for the EU.
