Fisheries enforcement

This study examines fisheries control issues at the national, regional and sub-regional level. It consists of two major international agreements; the FAO Compliance Agreement and the UN Fish Stocks Agreement. The study analyses and compares national legal systems and their governance of fisheries control. There is identification, analysis and comparison of existing and proposed regional and sub-regional agreements. These Agreements establish regional fishery organizations or other legal instrume nts. Such legal instruments may cover fisheries reporting (and verification), inspection and boarding schemes, regional registers, observer schemes (for scientific and other purposes) as well as various other enforcement provisions. There are recommendations concerning efficiency monitoring control and surveillance systems regarding fishing vessels
