Burkina Faso Food Security Country Brief

Grain prices, although increased since December 2010, stabilized in recent months. Food security has improved thanks to good stocks and stable prices in local markets, also production estimates report a record cereal crop which will result in improved households' access to food. Food security conditions were extremely affected by flooding in mid-2010. Moreover violence on the Ivory Coast caused disruption of trade activities and increased the influx of refugees, thereby affecting food secu rity in neighbouring regions. The government, together with international agencies, is helping the population to recover from flood-caused damages.
