Indonesia : A quick assessment of rural producers organizations : May - June 2002

The aims of this "Quick assessment of rural producers organizations in Indonesia" is: (a) to provide a comprehensive review of the traditional rural organizations that exist in Indonesia, including their diversity, strengths and weaknesses, their roles and, where possible, their governing authorities; (b) to overview the legal environment and more specifically, the indonesian legislation related to the formation of official non-gouvernmental organizations such as associations, cooperatives or any other form of legal grouping of individuals that may exist in rural areas; (c) to describe the existing mechanisms by which rural organizations are coordinated, and the local, regional and national consultation mechanisms in which farmer leaders participate
